STYLING A MID CENTURY HOME

BLOG FEATUREClaire Delmar

Picking up on the rich colours of the surrounding bush earthy tones of blue, green and brown were selected to highlight the interiors against the Modernist architectural backdrop. Softly curved shapes and organic handmade features sit alongside industrial finishes such as glossy metals and injected plastics creating a relaxed elegance throughout the home.

An Amazing Mid-Century Home Gets A High-Tech Makeover!

The word ‘amazing’ is frequently overused (especially around here!), but it absolutely applies in the case of this recently-restored and extended mid-century residence in Sydney’s Lower North Shore! WOW!

Without disrupting the original façade, 8 Squared have doubled the size of the home to allow for extended family visits. The interior design by Studio Gorman is just as impressive, combining ‘50s elements alongside the latest technology to take this home into the 21st century and beyond.

STYLING A MODERN AUSTRALIAN HOME BY STUDIO GORMAN

EDITORIAL STYLINGClaire Delmar

Nestled within a cove of bushland and overlooking Sydney harbour a story of modern Australiana was layered into the newly renovated mid-century home.

Distinct modern furniture with curved features was selected in natural leathers, timbers and matt metals and merged with pastel blues and rich greens. Handmade and organic shaped vessels and décor represent the surroundings and create a casual contemporary elegance throughout.

The story features in Belle November 19 – out now.
