Claire Driscoll (Delmar) Does Christmas
Claire Driscoll (Delmar) , Creative Director of the famed STUDIO CD, shares her most coveted items for the Christmas table...
“Influenced by my recent trip to France and Maison et Objet I’m pulling together tones of olive, green, amber and mustard through linen napkins and glassware. I’ll mix these colours in with light honey toned timber accents in bowls and serving ware to create a casual appeal. Thick stemmed glassware with handmade plateware will add an organic appeal with native florals and ceramic vases to complete the earthy and organic setting for family and friends.
Many of the selected items I’ve picked up on my recent trip will make a feature alongside pieces already found in my home and items I am coveting that will be picked up to complete the setting. ”

CELEBRATING CHRISTMAS WITH GREAT DANE FURNITURE
BLOG FEATUREWith Christmas upon us Claire spoke with Great Dane about her top gifts, treasured memories and what she loves most about Christmas time.

Christmas is one of our favourite times of the year here at Great Dane. We love the sense of tradition associated with a day like Christmas. These are ideals that Great Dane champions every day, and through discussions with valued suppliers, media partners and friends in the industry, we realised that we were not alone in this outlook.
We asked some of those friends what it is about Christmas that makes it so special, as well as some of their favourite memories of the holiday. The responses have been overwhelming to say the least, and as far as we're concerned, represent the cornerstone of what Christmas should be about. Throughout the month of December, Great Dane looks forward to sharing these responses with you, spreading old-fashioned Christmas cheer and reminding everybody to take stock of what's really important this festive season.

"My father would jump out of our living room window and into the pool on Christmas Day as a yearly tradition..."
This Christmas, I’d love to receive:
I would have said the Møller Bench #63 in oak, however I do already own this and it remains my most prized possession. As a stylist and designer I’m surrounded by so much beauty and great design, and to be honest I purchase so little for myself, that when I do it has to be a piece that stands out that I love and covet before procuring.
My current obsession is the Asplund Petetite Palais side table in charcoal, so this would be my second option. I absolutely adore the surrounding tubular panels, colour and texture and have photographed it around 5 times since it landed!
My favourite thing about Christmas is:
The feeling of excitement in the air, not just on the day but leading up to it as well. Seeing the magic light up on my kids’ faces as I put them to bed the night before and the anticipation and excitement to awake to Santa. The fun of forgetting to move around elf on the shelf and trying to explain to my kids why he didn’t move! And of course preparing and enjoying meals with loved ones… It’s such a special time of year it’s too hard to pick just one.
A treasured Christmas tradition or memory is:
My father who has passed away would jump out of our living room window and into the pool on Christmas Day as a yearly tradition. As a small child it was a great amusement watching your father who was reserved and sensible doing something so daring and fun!
